Our story

We are an active family with a great love for the outdoors and animals, especially the Appenzeller Sennenhund (Mountain Dog). When we got Scout in 2021, we fell in love with him and everything about the breed. We decided to embark on helping to advance this rare breed in the United States. In 2023, there were no puppies available in the US or Canada. We began looking for EU breeders that would work with us, and we are grateful for support from Ca 'Dla Pia. We welcomed Madame to our family this year, and she hails from northern Italy. Our full crew now includes Sage (our original rescue Aussie), Scout and Madame, Rocket-the-cat, Bun Buns-the-bunny, and Snowflake-the-hamster. We are also adding Atlas to the family, the first-born of Madame's first litter.

About the Parents
Scout and Madame became FAST friends upon her arrival to Ohio, and Madame fit right into our home. They love to run in the yard, swim in the nearby creek, and cuddle. Like typical Appenzellers, they love the whole family, but "imprint" on one main person. Katie is Scout's "person," and Eva is Madame's "person." They are well-acquainted to Rocket-the-Cat.

Ferdinand Vom Highleigh (Scout)

Scout hails from Highleigh Farms in Manassas, Virginia. He has a spunky personality, a booming bark, and is very "velcro." He loves to play and cuddle. Scout will soon be AMDCA registered.

Madame vom Ca 'Dla Pia

Madame is the sweetest little girl. She is more petite, with a super soft coat. Her lighter eyes hint to her heritage, since her father is a rare Havana Brown Appenzeller. Madame holds 'dual-citizenship" being registered with both ENCI (Italy) and AMDCA (North America).
